We hope you have had a good half term break, and enjoyed the sunshine! Heartfelt thanks for your terrific playing in our May concert, particularly in the fine performance of Procession. We had a fantastic turn out, and all pieces were well received by our audience. There were many positive comments about the playing and our programme.

A lot of the music was chosen by members of the orchestra, and there were some great links in honour of our 50th anniversary year. Special thanks must go to our volunteer helpers, who took charge of the ticket sales and the post concert buffet/drinks. Our extra players were also much appreciated, particularly in the brass and double bass sections.

Don’t forget we are back for four extra rehearsal sessions, 2, 9 16 and 23 June, before our 50th Anniversary Concert and finale for the Prescot Festival, on Sunday 28 June. More details about the rehearsal and concert at Prescot Parish Church to follow in due course.

We hope you have been enjoying the Easter sunshine this bank holiday weekend. Thanks go to Aslan for the Spring concert poster, which is available both on the website and our Facebook page. It has been circulated via the WhatsApp group – please let Guy know if you would like a copy via email. Physical copies should be available soon. Please do your bit to spread the word.

Rob and Guy are working hard to fill any remaining gaps in sections for the May and June concerts. There will be just 5 rehearsals before the May concert, please do make every effort to attend as many sessions as you can. If you can let Rob know if you are unable to make a rehearsal, that is a great help with rehearsal planning.

Section leaders, please make sure you have enough copies of parts for your sections, and let us know of any problems with sourcing extra parts for our guest players.

Rehearsals start back on 14th April at 7.30 pm.

Update March 2026

Hi everyone,

LAST MINUTE CHANGE for this Tuesday’s rehearsal, 17th March 2026.

The Synagogue is unfortunately NOT available this Tuesday. The good news is that we have been able to secure an alternative venue, so that rehearsal can continue as normal.

We will be at All Hallows Church Hall (not the church itself, but the hall, which is located behind the church on Hartshill Road). Rehearsal will be at a slightly later start of 8pm, as there is a Karate group using the space before us. As a one off, we will rehearse from 8pm to 10pm, without the timps, but hand held percussion, including snare drum, will be available. Clare Orrell will be there to open up at the start of rehearsal.

Please spread the word amongst your sections to those who may not have seen the message on the WhatsApp group, and we will also update the Facebook page, to try and catch as many members as possible before Tuesday’s rehearsal. Please let Rob know if you are unable to make rehearsal, as it helps with planning the session.

A reminder: if you haven’t responded to Guy about your availability for the May 19 or the June 28 concerts, please could you do so at your earliest opportunity? This will help us identify any remaining gaps so we have a good balance of sound in both concerts.
